An Extraordinary Night!

I became aware of SNC only a year ago, when I heard their "Twelve Days of Christmas" on Pandora. That's all it took...I was sold! I downloaded their Christmas Essentials playlist and New Old Fashioned album, and the rest is history. I saw that they were appearing at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, and since I just moved to TN from LI, NY less than a year ago, I had to go. I shanghaied my sister into driving us (a free dinner was the clincher), and now she's a bigger fan than I am! The nine guys have wonderful voices, and my sister couldn't believe there wasn't a percussion instrument. On the contrary, one of the guys does all of the percussions vocally, and he demonstrated his talents for the audience. All of the guys were gifted and charming. Their voices are amazing, the choreography is fine, and the banter and humor are too funny. I really can't say what I liked the best, but I do confess that their "Mary, Did You Know" brings me to tears every time I hear it, and Friday in Knoxville was no exception. Do yourself a big favor and go to see and hear Straight, No Chaser at your earliest opportunity. BTW, I bought two CDs, so I never have to be without them. Brilliant!

It’s one thing to listen to Straight No Chaser on digital media, its quite another to have that musical magic reach you live and in person, on a world class stage. I’m still wondering where the instruments were “hidden” — yet they were all on stage in each body sound-box. How fabulous for us to experience so many aspects of being at the same time: music, vocal motion, incredible harmonies (i.e. voices working together, but on their own sound track) and the sense of joy and fun SNC puts on stage because they love it as much as we do. Thanks so much!!
